Summary

Introduced with the Aviation Transport Security (Consequential Amendments and Transitional Provisions) Bill 2003, the bill: restructures the aviation security regulatory framework and provides for flexibility to respond to the changing threat environment; aligns Australian aviation security with the revised International Civil Aviation Organisation standards; and introduces graduated penalties for a more equitable enforcement regime. Also contains a regulation-making power and a saving provision.
